I am a fiber artist creating knits and jewelry for the young and the young at heart.
I cannot remember a time when knitting and crocheting didn’t surround me. I grew up treasuring the warmth and love embodied by my grandmother’s knitted sweaters and crocheted afghans. Before I was ten, I learned to knit and crochet for myself, my family and my friends.
Throughout my life I have created original garments. I have built up an extensive library of knitting resources but prefer to work out my own patterns based on inspiration from my library and experience as a knitting instructor. I now use hand powered knitting machines to individually craft my knits, which I then finish by hand. My garments are designed to be both comfortable and long wearing. I knit sweaters, dresses, hats, shawls and scarves with acrylics, as well as cottons, rayons, wools and other natural fibers for fashionistas of all ages. Each fiber has its own character which informs my design process. I prefer to use acrylics yarns for children’s sweaters as I know they will passed down to younger relatives and friends for years to come.
In recent years I have added jewelry making to my repertoire. I knit or crochet beads strung on wire or yarn into bracelets and necklaces. I enjoy finding ways to work with wire (another fun string) and with beads that come in so many shapes and colors! I make a variety of items ranging from shawl pins to zipper pulls to necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
I welcome the opportunity to recreate my designs in colors, materials and sizes to suit my customers’ preferences.
